Data dictionary: what you can ask
See every record, field, link and calculation a query can use in UnionOps Data, and who can use each one, before you build or read a query.
- Who can do this
- Officers who build queries and executive members who run shared queries in UnionOps Data.
The Data dictionary lists everything a query in UnionOps Data can ask about. Check it before you build a query, or when a result is missing something you expected. It shows the shape of the data, never a member's information.
Open the dictionary
- Open UnionOps Data from the Officer Hub menu, then choose the Queries tab.
- Choose Data dictionary near the top of the Queries screen.
Anyone who can use Queries can read the dictionary: officers who build queries, and executive members who run shared queries as counts.
Find a record and its fields
Use On this page to jump to a record, such as People or Jobs. Each record has a table with the Field, its Type, Who can use it and What it holds. A field with a fixed list of choices shows its Allowed values.
Fields your union added, and tables you uploaded, appear here too. They are marked Added by your union and Uploaded table.
Grievances, meeting RSVPs, Officer Learning progress and poll answers are marked Counts only, for everyone: any query that reads them shows counts with small groups hidden, even to officers who see rows. A note under each record says who is counted, for example that only people linked to the Local Portal are matched to a member's record.
Who can use a field
- Anyone who can query: you can filter, group and count by it.
- Names a person: rows, or counted: names and numbers. Officers who see rows can list them. Readers of counts can only count people by them.
- Groups and counts only: shown as a group or a count, never person by person.
- Not available: held back. No query can read it.
See how records join and which calculations exist
How records join shows the links a query can follow, such as from a person to their open jobs. Calculations lists what you can calculate, grouped by purpose, with the kind of value each one gives back. Calculations marked Rows only are not offered to readers of counts.
Note: The dictionary follows your local. A field your union adds, or a table you upload, shows up the next time you open the page.
